5th Floor Wonderwall
Client: Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM)
Brief: The head offices of TfGM are spread out over 8 floors. On floors 2 to 7, there is a seven metre wide partition wall separating the lifts from the open plan office. The design team were tasked with making these walls look more visually appealing for staff and visitors as they exited the lifts. For the wall on the 5th floor, I created a stencil graffiti-esque montage of iconic Mancunians. This artwork was created digitally and printed on vinyl before application to the wall.
Front bottom left to right: Frank Sidebottom (musician and comedian), Victoria Wood (actress and comedienne), Alan Turing (mathematician and computer scientist – he was instrumental in breaking the German Enigma code), Shelagh Delaney (dramatist and screenwriter), John Dalton (chemist, physicist, and meteorologist – best known for his pioneering theory of atomism), Emmeline Pankhurst (political activist – organizer of the British suffragette movement) and Anthony Wilson (record label owner, radio and television presenter).
